The most fascinating and sustainable way to visit Langhe and Roero

We already understood that Langhe and Roero are two worlds similar but equally different, right? To the right and left of the river Tanaro there are landscapes with different characteristics but definitely different in landscapes and territories. The same goes for Monferrato and also the Alta Langa, but that’s another story! The Langhe are almost completely covered with vineyards... and castles! Its hills, with all the different plots of land, create a postcard landscape. I love seeing the shades of the vines and observing them at different times of the day. Every play of light is pure magic. The Roero is the land of as many great wines that, thanks to the sandy areas, give off incredible aromas. The main feature of this side of Tanaro are the woods and the rocks. Millennia of history are enclosed in these sandy walls that due to natural phenomena, have been shaped creating unique scenarios. Here nature takes its course still in a fairly wild way, still leaving room for local flora and fauna. You may have already seen these differences from the top of your experience in Hot Air Balloon, so let’s discover them from the mainland!

Where do you go? Trails in search of breathtaking views and nature langarola.
The Roero

We start from the Roero and its wooded area dotted with rocks... and of course by the vineyards! The best way to discover the area is to visit the various thematic museums. Here you can start to know the territory and its history with audio guides or through excursions with a naturalist guide. On this side there are networks of excursions that reach about 250km, in short you have a great choice! There are themed trails for all types of explorers, both those still in the making and experts. The whole network of trails runs through natural places, sometimes almost unspoiled, or intersects with villages along the way. You can find them all qui.

Langhe

We then pass on the other side, that of the Langhe. Here, with the vineyards that rule, the paths climb most of them with ring trails that touch different cru and castles of the Langa. From the king of wines to the historic homes of the Savoy and other lords who ruled these lands. Wine and history go hand in hand, following each other on the various paths between a cultural or gastronomic break. In this regard it is really impossible not to remember to take a look at the article dedicated to traditional Piedmont dishesi. To find the trails that suit you, you can consult this link , where you will find the details of the various excursions. Qui You will find suggestions for winter excursions. You are undecided on which town to choose can always give a dusting to all the tips on landings of the area qui.

high Langa

If you have not yet decided which road to follow, either on foot or by bike (do you know that we can find rental bikes directly at the landing?) we go further! We broaden our horizons by pushing us towards the peaks of the Alta Langa and also the gentle hills of Monferrato. The Tourism Office proposes itineraries throughout the territory. Among castles, fortresses, vineyards and hazelnuts. All routes are available qui. And if the ideas were not enough I recommend a panoramic and literary path a little special. Perhaps not very feasible on foot, but perfect for bike routes or, why not, on a vespa! It’s a small trip, to be done in several days as I did, which starts from Vezza d'Alba and ends at Camerana. 11 stages that retrace history, territories and panoramas that vary each time. From the sandy Roero to the peaks of the mountains before Liguria... Because from here, if you are lucky, you can see the sea!
